Abandoned farm bunnies.

Last Saturday I decided to visit a spot surrounding an abandoned farm house, the bunnies have been having a great ol time burrowing under the house and destroying whats left of the garden.
This spot is just perfect for the .22 WMR so I parked the car about 91 mts from the closest warren and started scanning.
The first one appeared at bout 109mts (120yds ), and was duly dispatched with a shot to the head, number 2 at 107 mts (117 yds) and a shot to the chest, number 3 at 114mts (125 yds ) and another shot to the chest, number 4 was at 118mts (130yds) , 2.2 MOA elevation and a shot to the head (or close to it) wrecked his afternoon.
Number 5 was my personal best with the .22 Magnum, this one was at 164mts (180yds) and with no wind I dialed 6.0MOA elevation and planted a JHP through his chest.
The little magnum sure has some sting and is a great little performer .

Damn impressive and very consistent shot placement. I liked the third shot, lies down, has a good stretch then promptly expires. What camera you using? cause that's very clear footage for the level of zoom used.

Yep, not surprisingly with probably half its head missing. I'd love to be able to get out and knock a few bunnies over with the 17HMR of an afternoon.

Yes it can be fun just sitting off a warren poking holes in em as they decide to venture out. I've been giving em a fair workout in the last 4 or 5mths with the 204 - good fun and a real challenge when they are out 300m and using a 3-9x50 scope.

Tell us a bit about your bunny slayer Sean, what brand rifle, ammo, scope etc.

Hi Scott, the rifle is a sako quad hunter , scope a Leupold VX II 3-9x33 Rimfire EFR and ammo is Remington 40gn JHPs. Its a nice little rifle but the only criticism I have is that its a bit on the light side. I reckon the heavy barrel model would be just right if you do a lot of off hand shooting. I have an early model .22lr sako finnfire (bought it back in 1999) , that rifle is just right , well balanced with enough weight for steady off hand shooting. Many a bunny have felt a Winchester power point to the head at ranges from 25-100yds with that rifle. Even though the new finnfire model looks a lot like my quad I reckon the older one is much better.

If you're interested there's a Sydney dealer in the process of ordering a number of the Lilja drop in barrels for the quad hunter along with a "Special" for me. I doubt you need to improve accuracy any further but thought I'd mention it. P.M me if you need details of the dealer. Lilja barrels hold quite a few world records along with many Olympic gold medals so he knows his $hit
