Yet again there is evidence that some laws in relation to firearms are making things ridiculously hard for LAFOs.

I was with a friend that wants to purchase a semi auto 12g for his property with his current C Class license.
The LGS guy showed him a catalogue with glossy pics.
He wanted to know if the LGS could get one in so he could get "a feel of it" in the flesh, so he could make up his mind before committing to buy.

Oh no, said the sales guy.
They are all held by customs, and not released until ALL the paper work was done.
That includes the PTA.
Even the LGSs aren't allowed to keep any as stock.

You have to go thru all the rigmarole and commit to buy before it can be released.

The only way possible to get a feel of one without buying, is to find someone that already has one.

Does anyone that lives in the Toowoomba vicinity happen to have an ATA CY model in timber ??????

Customs don't actually hold them they will be in what is called a bonded warehouse,Nioa probably has a bonded warehouse to store these guns in their facility.

Nioa would have one for sure. I wish I could drive in whenever I wanted and buy direct from them as they are 5 minutes from home and 1 minute from work

No, they are not.
My friend has contacted them, and they say the same as the F/Arms branch, and the LGS.

They are held under Customs control, and not a single one can be released unless all paper work is done and the PTA is in place.
Put quite simply, you have to actually buy it before you can look at it.

I read the dealer regulations a while back,i think they can only have one new Cat C in the shop for stock.

From his homework done thus far, it is out of NIOA's control.

I'm sure the politicians responsible for that law had highly logical, well thought out and sensible reasons for doing so........
