Winchester 250 lever action 22

Post by rsj223 » 26 Jun 2015, 8:20 pm

Was waiting at the LGS and son was eying off the used one's eventuality he asked whats that lever? I thought another 30-30 but my ears pricked up when he said .22 ( love me .22's) SOLD.
Took it out on a fishing trip found a spot to give it a go, trying to support it off the back door of the car I put 3 shots around a $2 coin at about 30mtr happy as.
It cycles and shoots like new it does have a few rust spots on top of barrel but very minor, the tube mag was very sticky all lubed up now.
Question, does anyone know how to remove or how to tighten the front timber it moves just a bit?

In cases like these...let Google be thy friend :) Couldn't find anything specific on the fore stock but here's a nice pic of the takedown procedure which may help. Midway through the video the hillbilly mentions that the fore stock can be removed after removing the mag tube.

Apparently they stopped making this model around 1973 from what I found.

Apparently Midway still carry some parts for them and it was considered a very good rifle back then. I have a Henry lever action 22 that I bought for my son, the action is silky smooth and it's a great shooter.

I have the same win 250. If I can find a new stock (fore and rear) I would like to refurbish the rifle as it shoots well but looks a little tired. Any ideas on where I can get a new stock?

Does anyone know where I can find the rear mounting /guard pin (special #6) for the model 250? I can't find it anywhere. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Have you already tried ordering it from Numrich?

Otherwise I've made pins out of drill bits of the correct size.
