Dry firing won't directly damage anything as the firing pin doesn't pass the bolt face to hit anything, but, it's not good practice to have one hardened metal part impacting another.
Normally the pin would hit the brass case and the case would absorb the impact. With the pin being arrested by the bolt instead the pin
could break from the impact.
Accidentally firing on an empty chamber won't be a problem. But I wouldn't routinely do it.
