Storing powder and ammo. (QLD)

Post by fenderstrat » 04 Aug 2015, 10:32 am

Hi, I recently got into reloading and I ran into two problems:

1- Not exactly sure on how im supposed to store smokless powder. Locked toolbox? With my ammo? away from primers? Also do i need to display warning signs?

2- Thanks to reloading, I now have more ammo that i can fit in the ammo compartment inside my safe. I was wondering if i can just put my ammo inside a different lockable container, like maybe a filing cabinet or something of the sort?

Thanks!

A rule of thumb with smokeless powder would be to:

1. Keep it away from anything else that goes 'bang'

2. Keep it out of the hands of young ones

3. Put it away in a cabinet, away from any sunlight and keep it air-tight AND cool.

Regarding ammunition, as long as it is locked away in a lockable containment unit, then quite literally, its fine to keep it there. It varies from state to state though, so a Queenslander may be able to help you out better than what I can. Good luck!
If something doesn't work, apply rule .303!

Don't forget your primers too.

Needs to be stored as well, don't have a box left out on the reloading bench ;)
