Bass time again

It's been pretty warm up here in Northern NSW, 25 or so today so I thought a few hours after Bass might be good. The spawning females are on their way back up into the fresh water. so we had a look up the river to give it a go. I got 2 fat ones and my mate got a couple of knocks but no hook up. I was pretty happy.

They're very good to eat, nice white firm flesh, (sounds like an old gal I knew once) but I generally put them back. There's nothing wrong in keeping one or two which is all you're allowed, but I prefer them as a sport fish. They come out of their snag and damn near rip the rod out of your hands. That one was close to 18inches, and a pretty good Bass by most standards. It sure put a bend in the rod.

They would be the same, all "Australian Bass" AFAIK

Mate if you have a good Bream stick, you can use it on Bass. I'm a bit obsessive so by Bass gear is usually 3 different baitcasters, and a couple of spin kits. I prefer hard body lures and have most success with the one known as "crank baits". You don't want to take them too cheap though, there's been some massive bust offs if you let them get back into a snag.

You'll have to go and get one yourself , I tossed them both back.

I usually do catch and release too. I just keep one for dinner and the rest get a second chance.
