Lithgow Crossover Timber .22

Was looking for a new .22 and decided on a CZ 452 but was told of a timber Lithgow at a LGS was going there to price the CZ anyway, asked the guy can I see that timber Lithgow he said nah sorry sold got any more? Nah only had the one Oh wait I'll go check comes back with the box sits in on the counter opens the box slides the cover bag off to reveal the timber stock WOW loved it straight away then threw it up to my shoulder and it felt perfect.
Its the most I've ever paid for a rifle but the look feel and quality is spot on

I can't see the big deal about showing your serial number ? Sounds like a bit of paranoia. Just jump on usedguns.com , there's hundreds of serial numbers displayed there.

Australian made and good score with that stock, it's a great piece of timber, is it Aussie wood ?
I usually prefer more of a classic look but they've pulled off the modern lines well.

Bet you can't wait to rattle a heap down range with that one.

Little bit of paranoia dont want to see my number come up on other rifle, not sure where the timber is from and hope to get some better pics in natural light it may look better.
I have about 300 to let go but first up will need to sight in then work out the best rounds for it.

On the Lithgow website it says that a civilian .223 and .308 are coming.
They also do a .17 hmr ... tempting

Yeah when I emailed them about the .22 I asked when will the .223 and .308 be out he said by the end of the year, think they be saying that since 2013

Lovely mate, I'd consider buying one now that they have em in Timber (can't stand tuppaware stocks) too cheap and plasticy for my liking. I'll be interested to see how it shoots.

I know a fella who has one and it was ok (nothing special in the accuracy dept and it also had feed issues) and I know others that shoot very well (I guess they are just like any other rifle in that respect, some are great others not so).

They definitely would be worth considering if you were in the market of a 22.

Once my adler comes in i will be in the market for a rimfire. They are a nice rifle, but they just don't quite fit my shoulder just right. Same with the cz 452 and 455, they're all a case of close but no cigar (plus i've heard a few people say that the cz's are more susceptible to rust than they should be).

If it turns out that i can't find a better fit, i'll seriously consider either this or the three barrel cz 455 and look at changing the butt pad to get a better fit.

But the build quality and the fact they're aussie made are really appealing to me

Nothing rusts if you keep it well oiled mate.

I've never had a spec of rust on my 452 in the 19 years I've had it.

Personally i keep the bore and bolt oiled and use a silicon rag for the externals. I also pull my rifles out for maintenance when i haven't usedthem for a while. I've heard a couple of people and a lgs mention rust, but hearing from someone that has owned one a while is more valuable.

My biggest issue with the ones ive handled so far is the shoulder fit. The 455 seemed to fit a little better than the 452. The lithgow also didn't quite fit right, but i would like to try a timber stock

Well a half a day at the range and the results are ok but the mag has a prob, the sand bags I had were either to high or to low.
It likes RWS HV and the CCI mini mag would be second followed by Winchester power point the subs were RWS and Winchester that done very well at 25mtr but dropped and opened up a bit at 50mtr.
The best at 25 were RWS HV about 10mm and around 18mm were the CCI and RWS about the same.

Mine always fails to feed on the last round also, but i usually top load it individually at the range as the prodgie gets all torn up during feeding, i dunno what it is, maybe try a cz mag?

Yep looks like they still have feed/extraction issues, won't be buying one until they address these issues (for a rifle that price it should work perfectly) even my cheap savage works as it should!

Yeah a bit disappointing I guess mate, you shell out top dollar for a nice rifle and it has issues like this still continuing since it inception, one would have thought they'd have worked out what these issues are by now and addressed them to make the produce equal the top dollar price tag.

These problems are the reason many including myself haven't gone near them, I see no point in shelling out top dollar for something that doesn't work as intended, the daughters Savage Mk2 performs perfectly and only cost just over $400! why would I shell out almost 3x that and get something that had functionality problems, Lithgow Arms need to lift their game if they want these things to sell as good or better than their competitors whom have rifles that are cheaper and actually function as one would expect.

You'd think they'd sell em with CZ mags and save every poor owner the heartache of putting up with poor performing rifles, I guess they want to offload all the dud mags them got manufactured first hey.

Yep I wouldn't be putting up with it, it clearly doesn't work as it should so take the bastard back and make em sort it or get your money back! These people need to know that people aren't willing to put up with inferior products just because its Aus Made, hopefully then as Giwon said they will start addressing what is clearly an issue (plenty of evidence to back that up out there).

Love the rifle for look feel and handling, and it's Aussie made factor... definitely don't think these issues continuing is good enough.

I have also read that the initial ones didn't quite meet the "free floated" tag and a number were returned with speedy remedy and that issue was fixed quickly. This suggests to me that they are keen to fix any issues.

It's a painful process but i'd be sending it back for the problem to be solved.
