G'Day Bentaz
Just starting out in Single Action myself!!
Have been to and shot in about 4 or 5 shoots so far and my last piece of kit ( Gun belt and holsters ) was delivered a couple of weeks ago.
All I have left to do now is my holster course and I'm into it.
In my opinion,The most fun you can have with your pants on!!!

My son (also 12 a month ago) has been bugging me, the guys at the range got into him and told him how many different guns he could try, I'm still thinking about it.

Might have to try that one on my missus though I'm quite sure I'll get a kick in the nuts if she can find a box to stand on.
I'm in deep kaka with the missus at the moment, she saw inside the big safe for the first time last week and she wasn't happy. On a plus side I've learnt a few new Russian swear words and she didn't talk to me for some days which left me more time for reloading :) Her logic was that since I didn't tell her what I have that I was lying, my explanation was that since she's not licensed and because I'm anal about security the contents of the safe were on a need to know basis and she didn't need to know.

I'll have to show her some sexy cowgirl clothes and get her into the Western Action shooting, any excuse for a new wardrobe :) She's actually a reasonably good shot with a pistol from what I saw on our honeymoon in the U.S shooting the brother in-laws H&K 45.

And on the real plus side it means you won't get dragged to netball games

Which press Bentaz? I tried a few which were failures then bit the bullet and bought a Dillon. Loaded 205 rounds of 9mm this arvo in 30 mins, takes me longer to fill it with primers, powder, cases and projectiles then it did to load the rounds. I'll now wait till I've got a couple thousand to load before sitting down and making a night of reloading.

...and your western action range name is?
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

It's no dillion but it will sure beat trying to load up 1000 cases on old the press.

It was the failures of the Lee and my lack of tolerance for things that don't work that drove me to buy a Dillon, I bought 2 of the Lee Pro 1000's (9mm, 38Super) both of which have been consigned to the scrap bin. That said there's a few things to get them working reasonably well. Don't use the built in primer feeder, hand prime your brass and bypass the inbuilt primer function altogether. Check and tighten the shell holder plate where it clamps onto the ram as they can come loose. Don't fill the case tubes all the way to the top cause the weight on the bottom cartridge causes it to spit out and fall over. The powder thrower could use a baffle as I found loading AP100 that the charge varied up to +/- .4gr which sux. Not a big deal on rifle cases but .4 in a pistol is significant and can be dangerous.
On a positive note the dies are good and once you iron out a few bugs you should be good to go. I'm doing thousands of rounds a week which is why I went down the Dillon path, they're not as expensive as you may think, the Square Deal can be setup for around $575 with 1 calibre or step up to the 650 for $1200 ready to load in 1 caliber. The joy of the Dillon is that I can swap pistol calibers in a few mins and if switching to rifle then around 10 mins. I've got all the gear now to load 9mm, 38Super, 38/357, 44Mag, 223 & 204 with it and the time I've saved has paid for it.

If anyone wants a couple of the Pro 1000's at a bargain basement price drop me a PM.

Not Western but, I just finished doing this up for the girl for Xmas, the red dot won't be staying on though coz I can't find a rail adapter that's low enough to make it usable.

Looks like the new bench is getting put to good use already :)

Bugger....ah well you know where some spare parts are now at least. Your bench is bigger then mine, I'm using tool trollies for benches so I can move them around to get to the one I want.

Ben, when i was researching presses (I finally settled on a lee turret press as it suited my needs best), one of the most common things to come up was the primer feed issues. A couple of solutions came up. Get a short length of chain and link the primer feeder to the pipe/rod with the handle. You want it to be loose enough so that at the end of each stroke, it moves the primer feeder slightly/ tilts the tray. keep the primer feed tray full, once the tray is empty, feed issues start to appear, even if the feeder ramp is full, so keep the tray full. Load 100 primers at a time. Finally, get some fine graphite powder to lubricate the ramp.

Having said all of that, I haven't used the pro 1000, but my lee classic turret hasn't given me any dramas, but I load small batches, as I hunt and don't target shoot, so don't go through as much ammo as some here would.

Brett, have you thought about selling those lee 1000s? I'm sure some people would have the time to get them set up to run right. I've heard that, once you're used to them and have them running right, they can be good inexpensive presses

I am in Regional Victoria, near Bendigo. I know there is a range at Marong that maybe does a bit of single action stuff, I plan on calling the guy today and sussing it out.
