That be the Accuracy International AW50.

Dunno what the idea behind the pvp pipe style muzzle brake is though sorry.

yes it looks like an AW50
as far as the muzzle brake goes, it looks like could be designed to send the gasses out at just under 90 degrees from the muzzle? I don't know what the point of that would be though when the Barret muzzle brake is really angled back

jp muzzle brakes make 1 very similar to this 1
Have seen a couple of this design in my time and apparently they work great.
Early tanks had a similar brake fitted to them and they seemed to work .
I have 4 brakes that I use and they are much the muchness to each other.
That brake must work ok as it wouldn't be on a 50 cal if it didnt.

I think you'll find the Barret style ones with the 45 degree vents do a great job in terms of recoil but are bad in terms of the firing signature they put out (or whatever it's called.)

I've seen a couple of military docos where they covered this, and how those breaks shoot out two long concentrated steams of gasses for meters around the shooter that kick up all sorts of crap, making his location easy to spot.

I'd guess that big tubular break releases the gases more broadly and helps hide the shooter?

That's my guess anyway.

As good a theory as any.

Sound right to me too. There are some great videos on youtube I'm sure everyone can find of slow-motion 50 cal shots and the wakes that come off them.

Definitely not the kind of thing you want in a military situation when others are trying to shoot back at you.

Just don't say "I read it on the internet" cause then everyone will immediately think you're an idiot

If it's on the internet it's definitely true, right?

Correct.* Nothing on the internet has ever been made up or influenced by someone's opinion.*

It's all scientifically proven.*

* Ok, that's a total lie.
See you on the firing line.
