So simple,,, yet effective.

Game hunting and large prey. Deer stalking, hunting with hounds. Boar, pigs etc., large prey, culling, hunting large feral animals.

So simple,,, yet effective.

Today I had several hours work to do on a tractor.
It was going to be in an area where I have recently seen fresh sign of feral grunters, and wanted a rifle with me just in case.
Knowing that it would also be creating quite a bit of dust, I came up with a novel idea for disposable see thru lens covers.

The old fashioned condom ( Glad Wrap and rubber bands. )

When I finished, I just started the compressor, and blew down the rifle itself, then peeled the glad wrap off.

For the barrel I just use insulation tape. Common down here.

Get yourself some of that camo cling wrap material.

It doesn't have or leave any sticky gunk on the barrel like insulation tape does.

I bought the expensive McNett brand stuff and its great as well as reusable.
I have also bought some of the much cheaper Chinese stuff, and used it today for the 1st time.

Its just as good as the expensive one.

So, how much did the cling wrap effect the vision?

Where to start..

What is a grunter?

You talked about putting wrap over the scope, sounds odd but I get it. Why is everybody talking about wrapping the barrel? What is that all about?

Stop any water/moisture or debris getting into the bore.

Condoms have also been used for the same purpose.

Fish mate,,, Fish ( Grunter )

I live up in what is called the Granite Belt which is 243 klms from the sea to my house.
We have very high tides here.

As for wrapping the barrel,, most of my rifles are stainless (protection against the hi tide salt water) and I wrap them with the camo tape so they don't reflect the sunlight, and it also serves to protect against abrasion which would happen on the tractor.
The bracket they sit in is actually meant for a shovel.

As long as the wrap is pulled taut across the bell before you attach the rubber band,,,, you don't even notice it.
Mind you, I think 5 or 6 hrs would probly be its useful life.

Got it. I thought you guys meant around the length of the barrel, not the muzzle. I've certainly heard of this. Funny thing is, we never worried about this in the jungle during the wet season. If I managed to stick my muzzle in the mud I would clear it out, of course. And we have chrome lined bores and chambers.

A patch of electrical tap over the muzzle isn't bad either.
