New range in Vic, coming soon.

So I hear council approved the plans for a shooting range in Pakenham. Excellent news! Though 10 lanes seems a bit tiny. Happy though.

The local ssaa have been trying to get it running since the 90s. I remember reading in vicshooter the winery people were giving them grief. Hope it finally works out. A lot of hard work went into setting that place up.

Pakenham will be a indoors 50m range for rimfire, centerfire and handgun. The next stage is to raise finance, and they hope to be open in 2 years (end 2017) Jump on facebook and support them.

I thought it was going to be 100 yard indoor range from what I read a while ago.

I've been following them for a while, always 50m as far as I remember. 10 lanes however it's a bit low. I am guessing it will be leased by the hour or so... NFI

I had an old news article that said 100 yards so maybe it has changed.

I have a friend who is looking at options for a factory in SW Sydney he owns, I am trying to talk him into doing a 100 yard indoor range, at $30 an hour for a lane I think he needs around 15 customers a day just to pay receptionist and Range Safety officer with no other bills paid, minimum wage is over $17 per hour.

10 lanes at full capacity is around 660 customers a week or $300 per hour, I did the maths on it to sell the idea to him.

Do any ranges currently do a 'per hour' fee arrangement?

Not sure how that would go when everywhere else is charging a fixed entry fee.

This looks very interesting. Good to see some people with the confidence to invest into our shooting sport, and create a more modern range. I hope this takes off and we see some more.

A certain club i'm a member off north of melbourne has proposed to buy a whole heap of land and turn it into an archery range, rimfire, centrefire Handgun not sure on long gun calibers at this point paintball, and enough accomodation/amenities etc to host olympic shooting events on a massive scale, they have the money its just getting all the permits and associated junk organized but time will tell
