Howa mini action bottom metal replacement

The more time I spend using my Howa mini action, the more I like it, except for one thing.... the DBM/mag release system is driving me crazy. Constantly releasing the mag and dropping it in the mud in the field.

Seeing as I've got one mini action in .223 already, and looking at getting another in 6.5 Grendel, I'm interested in getting a metal trigger guard and hinged floorplate/internal mag setup for both. I'm not aware of any off the shelf arrangements available yet, and I know quite a few people are interested in them, so I'm wondering how much it would cost to get one designed and a batch manufactured. I hear the action inletting is quite similar to a Zastava mini action, so that might be a starting point for design of a hinged floorplate.

I'm based in Brisbane and can supply a Howa mini action rifle to a licensed smith for prototyping and testing.

Interesting idea. Would be costly to prototype but there are a few people making aftermarket bits for Howa, try looking up Wombat Ordinance and asking the question. Just one off the top of my head.

One thing about a rifle with a blind internal magazine is you cant drop it. For years they were considered second rate. In my view a little cheaper and better.
