i've been eating it for years . used to be able to shoot as many as i wanted down tenterfeild . depending on property owners wishes it's a bit harder for me to get goat meat these days . i'm selective about the species of goat to get the best meat . yeah i know they're fairly interbred , but some have strong throwbacks in physical traits . best tasting i ever had was a long haired nanny that looked like a dutch variety . hardly any gamie-ness at all in the meat . recent one was a short haired "brindle" coated nanny . both of these were larger than the smaller white variety that don't seem to taste as good. i use chicken stock in my goat curry , and only lightly brown the meat in a covered saucepan with a decent amount of olive oil before adding stock and vege's . yep. that's on the menu tonight :D

Spent the day exploring and doing bird photography. Saw 3 goats but had no real interest in killing anything so let them go

i only shoot goats/deer for meat , unless the property owner wants them gone . they might compete with livestock for graze, but their a resource in my book

besides seeing eagles up close on culled carcases, the most amazing bird i've seen is the major mitchell cockatoo. with their crest up and wings extended their beautiful . do a google search on images if you haven't seen one . pics on my iphone don't do them justice . you using a good camera pete ?

I seen them when I went to Booroorban in April. Couldn't quite get a good photo though.
I'm using a nikon D7000 dskr with a 70-300mm nikkpr lense. It does an ok job but I'm planning on getting a nikkor 200-500mm f5.6 lense soon for the longer shots/little birds. This trip I've manage to photograph mallee ringnecks,Bourke parrots, yellow naped honeyearers, striped honeyeaters,Jacky winters, female red cap robins,2 species of butcher birds, and a species of swift I've yet to identify
