Over the "limit" Buy Back/Compensation ?

Questions about Western Australian gun and ammunition laws. W.A. Firearms Act 1973.

Over the "limit" Buy Back/Compensation ?

Post by Die Judicii » 26 Jun 2024, 10:11 pm

Maybe a dumb ass question (seeing as I'm not up to speed on the matter,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

In the case of the yet to be fully legislated 5 / 10 gun ownership issue,,, What happens for any LAFO with excess number of firearms once this ridiculous move becomes law ????

Does the WA government have a buy back scheme or compensation for loss,,,, in place for these unfortunate LAFO's ?
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!

Section 117 of the Constitution.

"A subject of the Queen, resident in any State, shall not be subject in any other State to any disability or discrimination which would not be equally applicable to him if he were a subject of the Queen resident in such other State."

If I had the money of a billionaire I would challenge this to the high court that the people of WA are being discriminated against by capping the amount of guns they can own. If I ever win the 100 million powerball I will keep 5 for myself and will use the reaming 95 million to "lobby" politicians to making Queensland having the best gun laws in the world. I am just a simple man with a vision.

Every politician and bureaucrat that dreamt this up should be required to surrender car at the same prices they are offering.

The "buy back" closes on 31 August so any firearms you still have in excess of the amount permitted, ie 5/10 you will need to sell before the Act becomes law, which has been mentioned to be in March 2025 or WAPOL will drop around and confiscate them with no renumeration. All this is thanks to those that voted for these pricks at the last election.

Only the current buy back, which closes end of August 2024.

Many still believe that BS and still put him on a pedestal when it was Perth being the most isolated capital city in the world that was the telling factor. He then reveled in emulating Hitler.

The Federal Govt also controlled the skies and set the strict parameters for air travel.

WA's has only TWO major sealed road entries, one East of Kununurra up North and one South on the Nullabor at Border Village, which are always manned 24/7 for agricultural quarantine purposes so unlike other states WA's major entry points were already being totally covered 24/7.

Anyone proposing to enter WA during any covid restrictions had no chance but anyone with a brain would know the distances involved allayed a basic hop skip and jump into WA versus being able to quickly spread their covid from Vic into NSW and then QLD or vice versa etc using a multitude of entry points. with many unmanned.

McGowan road on our isolation and the lemmings sucked it up and still do.

I would add that anything handed in under the current buyback is being listed as “seized” on records. So next time you apply for a firearms license and it asks if you e had guns confiscated or seized you need to answer yes.

That's not really a problem as its just the "Interim Property Receipt (Found or Seized) form has no other boxes to tick. I handed in two firearms and in the section for Location Found/Seized it has the addition in writing of "Buy Back" so they cannot be classed as otherwise.

The over the limit are appearing in the classifieds at not very sharp prices. Some people in the WA bubble are about to get a rude shock.

When the new act becomes law, which will be sometime next March you will have until your next firearm licence renewal to comply with respective numbers etc before it can be renewed, eg if your licence expires at the end of November then you have 8 months to comply.

WA members, use your next ballot box to get rid off these arseholes.

Probably not but if the Nats get a few members and Libby needs them to make the numbers to pass any of her legislation it may mean that the Nats leader will then get his way as he's at least promised to amend the number of firearms allowable.
