Josh, appreciate the time taken to add to the site
It's not many that take the time to add pics and try and put some colour into the place, so good on you mate.

Just click on what Josh has posted, and it will open and drop down and the whole thing is there for you to see what he has taken the trouble to post.

I must admit, we rarely see many Mosins in Australia at all, in the circles I am in we never see them.
Maybe in larger centres gun shows? If they are still worth going to anymore.
Even though we are in a country where the people have allowed politicians to basically tell us what to do, what to own and even what to say, you'd think that more ex-mil bolt-actions would be popular.
It also surprises me that in a country like the US where people are still free, and can own any modern semi-auto, these very basic rifles are so popular.
I suppose we want what we can't have here, and look past the rest.

Must be a Northern or perhaps Rural thing, as I see many down here in Melbourne, I know of at least 50 in the hands of shooters I'm personally acquainted with from M1891 through 91/30, PE & PU Snipers both repro & original, M44, M38, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, Finnish, & Chinese Type 53's bought back from Vietnam. I have several including 3 Finns and really like trying to shoot well with them. The Finns and the Polish M44 can shoot very well.

Yeah right, No1. You'd be right there.
It's probably not a northern thing, it's probably just the circles and use of firearms that I'm involved in, that is the reason, for sure.
Originally from Brisbane, and used to shoot at Belmont quite a bit until I was fortunate enough to be able to get away from there, and I've never seen one. Gazillions of .303 variants, Mausers and all the semi's we used to use for culling back in the day, ex-Israeli M14's (real ones not M1A's) FN49's and Garands.
I've never even seen that 7.62 Rimmed Russian ammo for sale, except in an ad for PPU online.

In fact, weird as some may think as a first centrefire, I remember my Dad and I going to a long-gone gunshop in Woolloongabba (there were 2 as I remember) and walking out with a 1951 Springfield Armory Garand, which I used for years stalking pigs in the Texas Qld area. Only went to an M14 to be able to compete in IPSC rifle comps against the SLR's, and then to spend some time as a culler. But not Mosins.

It is very interesting though, to see these older renditions of bolt action design, and I can see how the Mauser 98 was such a design advancement, and led to such further advancements in precision and smoothness in the best modern designs. All an evolution to the beautiful streamlined, tight designs of today that we still see advancing in minor ways still.

Ironically the only mosin ive fired was a qlder who brought it down to vic. I put about 5 shots consecutively on the steel target at 200m with open sights. I was quite impressed and didn't have sticky bolt.
