It could be a reflection or some other optical artifact but the case mouth in the picture has the appearance of having been crimped with a projectile that doesn't have a cannelure. Further the crimp doesn't appear to be perpendicular to longitudinal axis of the case.

The crimp is definitely perpendicular to the centreline axis of the case, as you mention there is optical aberration in the photo. There always is and there's no way around that.
This is why I used the v-block and dial indicator check and put that up. The pic definitely shows misalignment, but mechanically measuring the results give definitive numbers, not the ability of a phone pic to match what your eyes see.
Numbers from measuring equipment do not lie.
If anyone's got any criticisms of the crimp, it was done with a Lee die also, used exactly as intended. The huge clearance of this cheap die around the loaded round as it enters also means slop in the shellholder or a cartridge flopping about as it goes up and in means it also will be angled to the degree of the misalignment of design tolerances.
That crimp was an experiment I also did afterwards.
I did it to a few to try something out which I will explain below. I didn't because the thread was getting too long but because a few have spotted it I will.
10/10 spotting it by the way, I did wonder if anyone would.
Because the Lee die forced the projectile into the case on an angle, the projectile is a floppy fit on one plane, example 6 to 12 o'clock. It stretched the neck loose in one plane.
I was faced with having to pull 50 handloads of 70gn and 50 of 75gn, so I tried giving a couple in a roll in V-Blocks and crimping a few in place to try this as an experiment. To see if they could be brought to a respectable alignment dimension and tightened up, so be used and not all be pulled.
That "respectable alignment dimension" was something I'd decide later.
It didn't work, because the neck has been pulled over from the join where it meets the shoulder.
The crimp was only an attempt to get the loads to a stage that they might survive the bolt pushing a loose bullet out of a box mag, up the feed ramp and into a chamber and stay in the neck.
The cartridge I pulled from the MTM box happened to be a crimped experiment one of the few, and I wasn't going to go back to the shop to take a pic of one I hadn't crimped after shutting up the workshop for the day.
I also considered using a body die for 5 seconds, but a body die doesn't touch the necks.
So again good work spotting this, but actually that cartridge is straighter than most of the 95 other ones that haven't been crimped.
I have this brand of dies in 223, 243, and 30-30 and bought them because I didn't see the need to buy better engineered dies for rifles in calibres I hardly use. But now I've seen the degree of poor tolerance stacking that this cheaper design makes when using them the only way they can be used, they are all being replaced.
This isn't a witch hunt against one brand, or pushing another I think is better.
I take the effort to put up info someone can use that mightn't otherwise think it's relevant or important to them and what their expectations personally are.
Handloading to me, isn't about just assembling a heap of bits together, it's about doing it so the result compliments the expectations I have in the whole package of rifle and scope.
When people say to me that "dies are dies, Sol" well, if you feel better convincing yourself that, then that's all that matters. They'll all go bang.
