I'm looking for some info on 300 blackout vs 308 Win.
I see in a few rifles and websites and so on that 300 blackout seems to be a bit of a craze recently.
To my novice eyes it just looks like a .308 with less powder?
Or is that the appeal? A low recoil 30 calibre?
Baldrick314 wrote:I don't know much about the calibre but I think I remember reading that one advantage of it is to use with a suppressor (in countries where it's legal) may be wrong though
While 5.56mm NATO has enjoyed widespread acceptance in military circles, the fluid nature of the missions that some special operations groups encounter often demand a round that not only provides better performance than that available in the high energy standard velocity rounds but also one that can offer subsonic performance greater than the current standard 9mm submachine guns now in use.
In an effort to satisfy this need the 300 AAC Blackout[3] was created by Advanced Armament Corporation in cooperation with Remington Defense

Not really, I just have trouble finding a place for a low recoil, sub 200m, automatic 30 cal cartridge in my day to day

Don't you hate it when buying milk turns into a shoot out

Has to be full cream.
Low-fat milk not worth the ammo

Lorgar wrote:Don't forget the 300 Blackout was developed as a military cartridge... When you read it was "designed to be effective up to 200m" that's going to have been judged as "effective" by whatever standards military/combat cartridges are judged by, not hunting.
