Questions about Victorian gun and ammunition laws. Victorian Firearms Act 1996.

NZ is liberal with semi-automatics and suppressors, and none of the chambering BS like restricting .338 because it's scary as far as I know.

Pistol shooting is much the same as here I believe. Longer licensing process, must have club sponsorship, only to be used for target shooting, etc., etc.

What is NZ's gun laws. Do they allow CC?

Generally no*, I dont think so, they have 'endorsements' for MSSA (military style [ :roll: ] semi automatic rifles) and handguns etc but part of the licensing process apparently involves an interview when you are visited and you're asked whether or not you want the licence for self defence, like a trick question :lol:

from the polees wibsite;

...............Step 5

Someone will arrange to visit you. They will interview you and check your firearms security arrangements. They will arrange to interview your referees.

You will have difficulty being deemed 'fit and proper' to possess or use firearms if you have:

a history of violence
repeated involvement with drugs
been irresponsible with alcohol
a personal or social relationship with people deemed to be unsuitable to be given access to firearms
indicated an intent to use a firearm for self-defence.

*In Aus CC and self defence is not permissible, but everything that is prohibited is such UNLESS YOU HAVE the OK of the Chief Commish, I have no doubt there are many individual CC permits, I would assume its the same in NZ....

TBH, you hear a lot of people on here want to be like NZ. I for one, don't.

Any country that has literal assault weapon restrictions doesn't get my support.

You know, that gun looks scary, I imagine it's dangerous, spiritually it should be banned, for the sake of the children's souls........

Tougher penalties for being a shark.

Better announce we are cracking down on them.
