Reloaded 800 223's. It does your head in doing that many! Only 600 more to go. Doh!

Wasn't the weekend, but during the week I bought a new rifle case and started looking at new rimfires

Didn't shoot at all over the weekend, cleaned my STi 38 Super, cleaned my SRS .308 barrel from Thursday / Friday's shooting and moly coated 100 Barrett .416 brass projectiles. I Looked in the big safe and pondered for a couple hours on how to make more room for the next purchase :)

Shooting pistol tonight but guess that doesn't count.

Anyone use 17 Hornet? thought's opinions? Was looking for a .17 Remington but not many manufacturers seem to chamber it nowadays.

Just fit some swivel studs to the new 223rem and finally attached the sling. Now i remember how much steadier it is off hand with a well fit sling!

Also assembled (or began to) my new case trimmer/neck turner from Forster.... i think i ordered the wrong collet or they sent the wrong one.

I know it's not the weekend, but what the hey....

Went for a whistle in SF. About the 6th spot a fox appeared but came from behind. He spotted me as I turned and run off throught heavy timber. :( So he got lucky. Was still a nice walk though.

Knocked off 4 bunnies at a relatives property. Got my longest kill to date with my savage mark ii fv-sr, approx 90 meters.

Last weekend...Shot a AR15, Pump action Shotgun, Semi Auto Shotgun, H&K 45 and a Desert Eagle 44Mag :D The 10 days I spent in the U.S was great fun and I'm now pondering moving there and going into business with the brother in-law.
This weekend I'll be loading some new 450Gr Hornady BTHP's for the .416 Barrett so I can ethically hunt with it. There's a just over 1000 rounds of 9mm and 38Super that need loading as well as 250 rounds of .375 Cheytac. I'll head to St Mary's range on Sunday morning with my neighbors son to thank him for mowing my lawns whilst I was away. All up a big weekend of loading and shooting coming up, my wife's back in a couple weeks so I need to make the most of what "Man" time remains :D

I'd love a .17 Remington but they seem to have fallen out of favour and are difficult to source brass for. I found 100 new in pack cases a few months back which I bought and gifted to my cousin for his Tikka but they're the only ones I've seen in a few years. The .17 Hornet looks the goods but I've never shot one and don't know anyone who owns one which makes them a bit of an unknown quantity for me.
I like all calibers, not just the big stuff and I probably shoot just as much 22LR than anything else cause it's fun and the skills are the same. There's >20 calibers to choose from in the safes and each has it's place be it functional or sentimental.
I've been chasing BTHP's for the .416 Barrett for ages and my favourite purveyor of big guns just got some Hornady 450Gr projectiles so I bought the lot. I feel a quick trip bush coming on mid next week for some long range bunny busting :D

No actual shooting but the subject came up during an annual get-together at our place. Showed off my refinish work while discussing target shooting. Seems our guest used to experiment with his air rifle under his high-set home. Showed him some of my targets that I shot during the week after modifying the bedding. He was interested and I would like to get him into shooting but he lives in another state. Sadly, I think it's a lost cause but I can only do my best.

Funny looking shotgun Bentaz :D

I've been trying to find a lever action 44Mag for a while now to add to the collection and I'll get a 357 eventually as well.

Hi juststarting,
Had a look at your 17 targets. I don't own one and wondered how you clean yours. What I am getting at is, my 223 is a pig to clean and I assume a 17 is worse, so does yours need frequent serious cleaning to make it shoot?

It's really new, so i havemt had that much time with it. I ran the barrel in, shoot, clean, shoot, clean, etc. After that, carbon solvent and brush sort of clean whenever I am home from the range - it always gets a clean before going back in the safe; and last time I think I was near 500 rounds in total, so I used copper solvent. That's about it. I do have a bore snake which comes with me, I have used at the range after around 50 rounds and I did notice a little bit of a diffrenece. But to be perfectly honest I haven't spent enough time with it to make a solid informed statement.

Shot it off the bench with my Savage .17HMR using a bipod and rear bag so it's easy enough. I had to go the rimfire path as that's only 50m and can be done indoors at St Mary's as I can't easily get to a 100m outdoor range. I group reasonably well @50m no matter if on the bench or standing but if there's an option to use a rest I'll take it :) I've got my R license and now with the Farmer Assist accreditation done I should have a few more places to hunt.

On the last comp. of the year at the Seymour Black Powder Club, we Noisy's had a day of best's. Son of Lady Noisy (13yo) got into a shoot off for 1st place overall in the clay target event using a borrowed Winchester 1887 lever shotty. After another 6 targets, he went down to the best clay target shooter in the club. Lady Noisy managed her best yet at the 50 yard standard target (off hand) with a 3rd place score of 75 with her .45 Pedersoli muzzle loader and I took 2nd in the 200 yard big bull with my best ever score of 89 with my Pedersoli .40-65 Sharps ( shot off cross sticks).
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.
