Long time lurker here.
Been reading this forum for years and have enjoyed it, lots of decent, genuine blokes here.
Been wanting to join up for a while now but have been reluctant because of certain things.
About me, i am 46, i live on a rural property in upper Central West NSW and was born and raised on a rural property.
I love the bush immensely and hate cities and crowds. Lover of dogs and have four, a red kelpie male and three cattle dog bitches.
I have been shooting and reloading since i was a kid on the farm, My dad and Pop shot to and i reloaded for all of us using Simplex gear, I still use that same gear today as well as more gear that has been was added along the way.
I am old fashioned, especially for my age and i hate technology.
I am a welder by trade and run my own business, 95% of my work is onsite, everything from transport, truck, earthmoving, farming and mining gear is what my work revolves around, all over the place. Ive run my own business for 15 years and before that i was in mines and engineering shops. In the early years i worked on our family property and other large properties with cropping, stock ect,
I am a lover of older Sakos and Winchester levers.
I love the less common and obsolete calibres and reload for them.
I mainly shoot those long legged jumpy things, pigs, foxes, rabbits, crows, dogs ect.
In everything from thick scrub to open crop paddocks spotlighting, thermal ect, from vehicles and quads.
I love fishing, camping, 4wds, bikes, anything outdoors really. I prefer a beer and a rum around a nice fire at home than to be in a pub.
Cheers.
Hi and welcome Mate,
As far a I'm concerned you'll fit in well (your trade)
I'm a retired pressure vessel welder and maintenance welder by trade.
Interesting, as you mention running your own business and being mainly on site.
When I started my own business of on site fabrication/repairs, the concept was unheard of.
I struggled with customers that were set in their ways, and persisted in dismantling equipment/machinery and take it into town and pay exorbitant $/hr and then take it back out and spend another day putting it all together,, when in most cases I could do it on site without dismantling.
I survived all that struggle with difficulty, and eventually retired after mobile phones came into play,,, and the whole "on site" thing suddenly became in vogue to the point of now,,,,,, every man and his dog are doing it.
I was well and truly ahead of my time.
But,, I say again, WELCOME.
I do not fear death itself... Only its inopportune timing!
And,,,,It's been proven,,,,, the most trustworthy females in my entire life were all canines.
